The highly anticipated Jameson Global Party failed to come to life this past Thursday at Taboo in Sandton. With a hot ass line-up, equally talented MC and 18 countries sharing this party experience globally via satellite video feeds, this event did not match the normal Jameson party experience that we’ve become accustomed to. Upon entrance, VIP’s were given two tokens for drinks with a choice of either a soft drink, a tot of Jameson with dash or a glass of champagne and we all know Jo’burgers are thirsty people, two drinks are bound to leave one with a headache.

Soul Candi DJ Ricardo Da Costa played some nice tunes and was followed by 5FM ‘s DJ Fresh who continued with the house beats that have helped him maintain his crossover appeal when in comes to DJ’ing for the nation. With many other events set for the same day but earlier times, we expected many of the socialites to at least pop by after attending either the Playboy SA mag launch or the face of Wonder Bra do, unfortunately only a handful of familiar faces appeared, some of which left for The Bank 15 minutes after entry for Mahoota’s “getting closer to 50” birthday celebration – that man sure has good genes…

A sterling performance by “Good Luck” seemed to liven up the party only for the mood to get dampened again with another live broadcast of the global parties. It became quite a wait for us to get on the dance floor and it was the soothing sounds of Relo’s voice with DJ Kent on the one’s and two’s that allowed even the sober to feel like they were at a party. It’s not the lack of free alcohol that kills a party, but rather inconsistencies when it comes to the line-up, on that note your party people can also make an event worth your while.
