We often tend to forgive and accept others mistakes far easily than our own. We have heard of students who commit suicide because they failed their matric. I have heard of people who kill themselves after finding out that they are HIV positive, or are pregnant or even because they cannot get the job they have studied for. Those who left home in search of big dreams choose to stay away rather that going back home, even when life has failed them in the City of Gold because their pride is bigger than them.

We should learn from our mistakes and become better people. We need to stop dwelling on our faults and accept them as part of life’s lessons. Spending time crying, blaming ,wondering and thinking “what if” is a waste of precious time. We should forgive ourselves more often so we can move on. Forgiveness happens when we accept and own up to our mistakes. Stop thinking about other people and what they will think or say. Think about the future and focus on your life. Push hard for that dream you always had, don’t let your past mistakes get in the way.

Positive things happen when you have forgiven yourself for your mistakes and moving forward to change. Losing your footing once in a while is allowed, as long as growth happens and there are lessons learned. Always remember that everything happens for a reason.
I have had that moment in my life, where I lost my footing and let myself down, but with knowledge and acceptance looking back now I do not understand why I was being so harsh on myself. I love what that part of my life brought me and the kind of person it made me out to become. I got over it and forgave myself. At the end of it all, it is all about accepting mistakes for the good of moving on with your life.
