The other day while going through some old magazines at the office I read a motivational article that I thought I should share it with you on this Motivational Monday. What caught my attention was it’s title – Meaningful Work Is The Bottom Line. The writer of the article was Simon T Bailey author of Release Your Brilliance. The most interesting fact I found was the research that was conducted by means of a 10 year study of 12 000 electronic diary entries from 238 professionals in seven different companies. One – third of the entries showed individuals who were unhappy, unmotivated or both.
I found this piece to be interesting and enlightening, because it speaks to many young professionals who are trying to be successful in their respective careers. What it basically means is that each one of us should put more effort in what we do and most importantly do what we love. The piece also encourages us to look in the mirror every morning and ask ourselves: if this were my last day of life, would I want to do what I’m about to do today?
Many people find themselves doing work that they are not passionate about and in return they lack motivation and the drive of what they do. Nothing is as fulfilling as waking up everyday, doing what you are passionate about and getting paid for it. Remember even if you don’t love what you do, focus and put more effort in to it you might realise that is actually not that bad. Work from the inside out instead of from the outside in and you will reap the rewards you deserve.
