South Africa’s 1st Princess for Miss SA, Remona Moodley bid farewell to a few media and Sun International employees on Tuesday in Sandton ahead of the Miss World Pageant to be held in Ordos, China on the 18th of August. Remona supported by Miss SA, Melinda Bam and Miss Teen SA, Celeste Khumalo also used the opportunity to reveal the main dress she will be wearing at the finals come August. The dress is by world renowned fashion designer, Haroun Hansrot. The blue silk dress is drapped in silk chiffon with shades of turquoise and is also fitted with Swarovski crystals which Remona reckons will match the crown which she hopes to bring back.
When Melinda was asked about her reason for not entering Miss World, she said she felt Remona would do better because of her personality and the kind of charm she has and felt that she is more suited for Miss Universe competition, a strategy she hopes will help SA bring back both the crowns. Asked for a tip for the Miss World pageant, Celeste Khumalo responded saying that Remona should remain herself, she has all the qualities to win the competition.
Miss World Contestants are required to take with a book which will be donated to a school library of the Miss World organisers’ choice and three commemorative stones from their home countries, for the Miss World Rock Garden. I’m not sure about the purpose of these traditions but hopefully she will be selected the 59th winner of the Miss World Pageant.
