The launch of the Brutal Fruit’s new Cheeky flavour was one of the most anticipated events in Johannesburg this week. It had promises of everything glam and stylish and this was indeed the case. I was greeted upon entry by flash lights from snapparazzi’s and TV crews. This added a royal feel to the classy Zar lounge. The place was packed to capacity, to the point which made spotting guests a difficult mission. My late arrival meant that I had missed out on a bit of action but I was lucky enough to catch award winning hip hop group, Teargas on stage. They didn’t look like they wanted to leave after their performance. I can see how the party might have enticed them with everything looking pink and skimpy. I wonder what time they got to The Bank for KO’s birthday celebration…
The party was hosted by the SABC1’s Live presenter Bonang Matheba who was dressed to kill in a black and pink embellished cocktail dress. She looked hot, well a lot hotter than the girl who won the Audi A3 Cabriolet for being the best dressed woman at the party *stern side eye*.
Yes, another woman walked away with a great prize just for dressing up. Not that I saw any guys who were dressed the part but it sure would be nice for a guy to win once in a while. I’m sincerely appealing to all guys to please make an effort next time – there’s no shame in pink or pink drinks for that matter.
I spotted the Mzansi Insider presenters, The Twinz and Phila. The latter was out to have fun but I think he might have underestimated the potency of the pink drinks as they seemed to get the better of him. Hlelo and Ntando seemed to be enjoying the attention from the TV crews interviewing them. I’m glad that their new found fame is working well for them although I wasn’t impressed with the first episode of their show. It was like a remake of the old Live with a Selimathunzi and V Entertainment vibe. At least the SABC made good use of the old Live set, well done to the twins.
I rarely see Sasha Naidoo out at these kinds of parties and I’m quite glad that she and that hot cream dress came out that night. Pabi Moloi whose spotting braids these days also came out to have a good time, it’s always refreshing to see celebs actually partying and dancing as opposed to showing up somewhere just to pose. A few soccer players from Sundowns joined in on the festivities at the corner end of the side bar. They were well behaved except for Papi Zothwane whose body language screamed “booty for sale”. The man was bending over with his pants hanging to the edges of his undies leaving his buttocks exposed. Whatever his mission was, I hope he succeeded. Other people I spotted were the beautiful Terry Pheto, the hot DJ Zinhle and the chubby getting Lulo Café.
I’ll excuse him ‘cause it might just be that his baby momma is about to give birth to their first child. I wish him all the best with fatherhood and to the Jezabelles, let’s give the man maternal leave okay.Even though some faces left early, this still turned out to be a super cool party. I can’t wait for December do with the Kardashian sisters and judging by the Skype call, Kim is excited to be coming down to our shores. Now to see if I can party with them in Capetown keep your fingers crossed for me, who knows?

The entertainment industry often comes with warnings of the fickle nature of the industry as well as stories of success followed by obscurity. Terry seems to have worked consistently over the years on television, print and film. When asked how she managed to do this she states that she made a decision to work in all mediums even though film is her first love. From the Oscar award winning Tostsi to ‘Catch a Fire’ Terry seems destined to work with more international directors and garner recognition in the North American market.
She conducts herself in a manner that suggests that she has been working with heavyweights throughout her career. She has struck up a close bond with internationally acclaimed director Phillip Noyce after working with him. He is now a cherished friend and mentor to her, they speak once a week. She has only kind words for him saying “Phillip is an actor’s directors, he cares about the actors as much as he cares about the picture; even though he has worked with the biggest names in Hollywood he still treats everyone with so much respect. He is an A-list Hollywood director but his humility is so refreshing.” She could be describing herself. She has a quiet sensuality, and the world at her feet yet she remains girl next door lovely. At our shoot at the Grace Hotel in Rosebank, she was accommodating despite her heavy time commitments. She introduced herself to the staff and thanked everyone involved with the shoot afterwards. When asked about the pitfalls of fame, she says although there are negatives, she refuses to dwell on them.
