Its the weekend again and the people in Cape Town are starting to plot ways to escape the unbearable heat. Opinions differ on whether the abnormally hot weather is caused by climate change or the fact that Ryan Gosling is in town. Having seen the latter in movies with his shirt off I put my money on him. Even in a suit he is smoking hot………………….but I digress.
The point of this weekend is to find activities that provide maximum relief from the shade and hopefully are light on the pocket too. First up is the Aquarium at the Waterfront. Normally it is billed as entertainment for the kiddies but its quite a fascinating place and most importantly it has air conditioning.
While we are still in the mood for nostalgic childhood plans take a drive to Gelato Mania in Beach Road Green Point. The combination of ice cream cone and a sea breeze should do the trick. A *slow* walk around the promenade should work off the calories in the frozen treat quite quickly.
Summer is the season for concerts and for those wanting a break from the madding crowds of Kirstenbosch can head to De Waal park in the city bowl for free sunset concert every other Sunday. Keep an eye on the calendar for details of artist line up.
