The Idols Top 10 Spectacular

The People of the South have chosen their Idols Season 8 Top 10 and now it is time for the contestants to reward the fans’ faith in the first Spectacular of the season. The show will be recorded at the Home Of Idols, the Mosaïek Teatro in Fairlands, Johannesburg, on Friday, 3 August and broadcast on M-Net, M-Net HD and Mzansi Magic on Sunday, 5th of August at 17:30. The musical theme for the evening is “Old School / New School”, with the contestants performing updated versions of classic hits. Song choice has proven to be a huge contribution factor when it comes to getting the public votes and so, we wait in anticipation to see if the guys choice will reap votes for them.

Nosipho Mngomezulu (01) will be singing “Lady Marmalade”, a classic hit for Patti Labelle which was updated by Christina Aguilera, Lil’Kim, Mya and Pink while Obakeng Ramaboa (02) chose “Kiss”, originally by Prince And The Revolution. The oldest contestant in the competition, Monde Msutwana (03) is looking to impress the ladies with the Barry White standard, “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love, Baby” and Chloe Kiley (04) will be giving new life to John Waite’s “Missing You”. Simphiwe Gwegwe (05) has plans to perform the Manhattans classic “Kiss And Say Goodbye”,Dominic Neill (06) has a date with Aloe Blacc’s “I Need A Dollar” and  Melissa Allison’s (07) first Spectacular she will be tackling Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition”. Competition favourite, Khaya Mthethwa (08) has chosen to perfrom Aerosmith’s big ballad “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing” with Sheki Donnell (09) re-interpreting the Tina Turner hit “Simply The Best” and Tshidi Tenyane (10) will close the show with her version of the Whitney Houston classic “How Will I Know”.

To vote, fans simply have to text their favourite singer’s number to 37400 (R1.50/sms VAS rate apply) or vote online via mobile or web at mnet.co.za/idolsSA, for free, or cast their votes on MXit. All the voting info is also available by pressing the OK button on the DSTV remote, as well as on the Idols SA website.
